Mapuma Community |
Mapuma lies directly opposite Kambama village but on the other side of Tiwai. They are sometimes referred to as brother or twin villages because a lot of the community members have family or a house in both communities.
This village has a community guesthouse that was built to welcome guests, both foreign and local, so you can imagine that the inhabitants are very hospitable. Mapuma is also home to a number of interesting cultural heritage sites, including the grave and footprint of a legendary 9ft tall warrior/hunter, named 'Kenny Kpengba', who used to hunt forest elephants in what is now called the Gola Rainforest. Ask the community guide to tell you more. |
